WHAT age do I have to be?
When you get to 18 and still love playing with the band you don’t have to leave, you can become an adult leader, using the leadership skills you’ve learned in your time in the band.
WHERE/ WHEN do we hold rehearsals?
> Locations announced in late September 2017
> On Scheduled Saturdays, 9am to 12pm
Just come along on one of the sessions and we'll be happy to show you what we do so you can see if you like it.
WHAT does the band do?
ENGAGEMENTS – Once we are at performance level the band will travel all over WNY and beyond performing at carnivals, concerts, shows as well as parades and other venues.
PRACTICE - Practices are split into two parts.
Part One: Chanters, Sticks and Pads - The first part of the practice is spent in separate groups, Side Drummers, Pipers and Tenor Drummers. In these groups, we teach and learn new tunes.
Members may be taught by other youth members and overseen by adults, this makes learning fun and relaxed without the stuffy schoolroom feeling.
About half way through the practice we stop for a break.
Part Two: Pipes and Drums - For the last part of the practice the whole band joins together.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
> Regular Attendance at rehearsals, practice at home.
Becoming a member of the band does take commitment. We require regular attendance and practice at home. As with every hobby is does take dedication. The more practice the quicker you'll be out playing in the band.
So there it is, not really that complicated. . .
> Show up for rehearsal, practice at home.
> We will teach you to play the pipes or drums
